Uma Vennam

Professor Uma Vennam is Professor of Social Work at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalam, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. She has an MA in Social Work, specialising in Urban and Rural Community Development, from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, and a PhD from the University of East Anglia. She has been involved in various research projects dealing with poverty alleviation, rural livelihoods, HIV/AIDS, trafficking of women and children, and child labour. She has also worked with international agencies, including the World Bank, DFID and UNICEF, on Aids Prevention Education Programming for school children. She was Lead Qualitative Researcher for Young Lives India.
